Managed OpenClaw hosting compared: what you really pay in 2026
Managed OpenClaw hosts advertise from about $3 a month, but renewal rates, upfront terms and model costs change the real number. Here is how to compare them.
OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent that can act across files, APIs and connected apps, and a crowd of hosts now sell it as a managed service. The headline prices look close together. The real monthly cost is not, because four things sit outside the headline.
The headline price is usually a promotion
Published entry prices range from about $3 to $20 a month. Some are first-period prices. Hostinger, for example, lists its managed OpenClaw plan at $5.99 a month on a 24-month term paid upfront (about $144), $7.99 a month on 12 months, and a renewal rate of $11.99. A plan that costs $6 in year one can cost twice that in year three, so compare the renewal price, not the banner.
Model costs are a separate line
Almost every host bills the hosting and the AI model separately. Some bundle model credits by default, and credits can burn while the agent is idle, because OpenClaw checks in with the model on a schedule (every 30 minutes by default on the Hostinger plan). If you bring your own API key instead, you see the provider’s invoice directly and can set a spending limit at the provider.
Channels decide whether you will use it
An assistant you have to open a dashboard to reach does not get used. Check that the host supports the chat app you already live in. WhatsApp and Telegram are the common ones for work. Some hosts list Discord, some mark channels as in development.
What a managed host still leaves to you
Hosting removes the server chores. It does not decide what the agent can touch. Security researchers, including Microsoft’s security team, note that OpenClaw has limited built-in security controls and recommend isolated environments with only dedicated credentials. Ask any host what isolation it provides and what credentials the agent holds.
A quick checklist
- Renewal price and billing term, not just the first period.
- Whether model access is credits, your own key, or both.
- Whether idle checks cost money.
- Which chat apps work today, not on a roadmap.
- How isolation and key storage are handled.
Where SuperCat fits
SuperCat is not an OpenClaw host. It is a preconfigured AI companion for work that you reach on WhatsApp and Telegram, and it makes software, reports, presentations and videos that fit your business. In early access you can bring your own keys for $2 a month and pay your AI providers directly.
